Congratulations to Victoria which, once again, has been named top Small non-US City in the World by the 2024 readers of Condé Nast Travel Magazine. Living just a hop, skip and a ferry/seaplane from this capital of British Columbia, we are delighted at the news.

‘The most British city in Canada?’ Without a doubt. We’ve visited with friends from the UK who feel like they are being transported to the Britain of dog-eared bedtime stories:  tea, crumpets, chubby bulldogs in herringbone hunting hats. Let’s throw in some bagpipes, tartan, and Aran-patterned Irish knits to broaden the mix.

Downtown Victoria hosts 1890s Parliament buildings, Indigenous art, and boats bedecked with dancing lights. Make your way around the city for the Galloping Goose Trail, gorgeous beachside walks, quirky little shops, and great food. Check out the backstreets for striking street art. And, if you’re lucky enough to visit in December, look for the Annual Truck Light Parade.
