A 2024 YouGov poll asked 4678 US adults how they felt about hosting overnight guests – e.g. friends or family – in their homes. More people felt good about hosting than not. We’ll assume that precisely who these guests are makes rather a difference…

But, there are guest stays 👋🏼 and guest stays ⏰. How much guest is just too much guest for even the most generous of hosts?
In one poll of 2,000 adults, Serta Simmons asked for the maximum number of nights guests should stay with their hosts. The most common answer? 3 nights.
49% agreed that spending four nights or more at someone’s house is altogether too much.
